My Finished Piece from Bloom N’ Chalk Fest in Safety Harbor, FL

I had the privilege of creating a 4' x 8' chalk piece at the Bloom N’ Chalk Fest in beautiful Safety Harbor, FL. This one was special to me, and while I don’t normally name my work, I felt this one deserved a title. I call it “From the Depths,” and it truly came from the heart with some things I have been going through lately related to my art.

I rendered the lion in photo-realistic 2D, while bringing in perspective to make the entire piece look 3D without using anamorphism (due to the tight space). I even played with the actual cracks in the concrete to help the illusion - one of my favorite things to do! I worked diligently to capture emotion, depth, and texture in this piece. It was exciting to see how people engaged with it at the festival, especially when the 3D effect really came to life on the pavement.

The experience at the festival was incredible. I want to extend a huge thank you to the festival organizers, volunteers, and my amazing sponsor, Dazzled Boutique. Their support made the event a success, and I couldn’t have asked for a better team. This is my first chalk festival in Florida which is home to many of the best festivals in the US.
