How the Meta Quest 3 Virtual Reality Headset Has Been a Game Changer for My Chalk Art

The VR headset has been a total game changer for me this year. I first got inspired after seeing another chalk artist share about it, then another who bought one and shared their experience with it. I was immediately sold and decided to get my own VR Headset.

I decided to purchase the Meta Quest 3. It was a much friendlier price point compared to the Apple Vision Pro, especially for something I wasn't sure was going to work out.

Before getting the Meta VR headset, I have actually spent some time the last few months looking into large format printers. I use large sheets of paper, a projector, and a pounce wheel to make my stencils, and the process is cumbersome and time-consuming, especially if you don't have a large space to work int.

Large format printers are very expensive however and prone to breaking if they don't get consistent use. I'm not making 2-3 stencils per day or printing art prints, so it didn't feel right to spend thousands of dollars on something that could potentially just end up breaking on me.

When the VR headset came in as an option though, it made so much more sense financially for my business. It paid for itself immediately with my first commission. It has saved me so much time, easily shaving 3 hours or more off each project.

While it’s not a perfect system (is anything?), it’s pretty straightforward once you get the hang of it. The ability to scale up my work in VR has allowed me to plan and execute projects faster than ever before.

I shared about my experience with it in a few videos and ended up going viral on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook (here and here). Check a couple of them out below:
