Drawing a Realistic Cinderella at Chalkfest Maple Grove

That’s a wrap on another great weekend at Chalkfest Maple Grove, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with how my piece turned out! This year, I created a realistic adaptation of Cinderella, blending my love for photorealism and several elements to the classic fairytale. The artwork itself was designed to look like a large, ornate picture frame sitting on the pavement, as if the story was unfolding right there in front of you.

The intricate frame was designed to be reminiscent of the time the story originally takes place, and I incorporated several details outside of the portrait that are found in Cinderella’s world—the castle, pumpkin, horse, mice, Bruno, and of course a glass slipper. I was on a particularly rough piece of road this year so I found the texture and blending to be more challenging and cumbersome than others, but I powered through and found a technique that allowed me to finish.

I had so much fun sharing this with everyone at the festival. It was great to see so many faces guess and interact with it, especially when they recognized who it was.

A huge thank you to the festival volunteers, my sponsor, Wellington Management, and all of YOU who came out to support! Your energy made this event even more special. I can’t wait to share more behind-the-scenes stories and photos from the weekend.

With Chalkfest in the books, I’m already looking ahead to the next adventure!

Here is a video with more of the artwork as well:
