Chalk Festival #5: Drawing Byron Buxton at Chalkfest Maple Grove

That’s a wrap on Byron Buxton and Chalkfest Maple Grove. This year, I drew something (someone?) totally different than my usual…a real person!

I really wanted to draw a human/real person this year instead of an animated character. We love baseball and going to Twins games, plus my talented brother-in-law, Brace Hemmelgarn, took the original photo. So despite how well known Byron is as a baseball player, there was a lot of personal meaning behind this.

I look forward to this weekend every year and despite some rain and crazy wind, it still did not disappoint. Thank you to the festival board and volunteers, to the city and sponsors, to everyone who made it out to visit, and of course to the artists. Love all of these humans for how supportive, fun and talented they are.

Watch the video below for more on my weekend at Chalkfest Maple Grove. This is my 5th Chalk Festival overall. Grateful for all I have learned since my first festival two years ago.

Thank you again to @shawn.arts, all the @chalkfestmaplegrove volunteers and to my sponsor @maplegroveparksandrec
